Gauteng structural Collapse Update: Rescue teams on scene have confirmed that three people have been declared deceased when a walkway collapsed at a high school in Vanderbijlpark, five people have sustained critical injuries, three of the critically injured have been airlifted to an appropriate hospital, multiple other people have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Circumstances leading up to the bridge collapsing is unknown pending a report from structural engineers and SAPS who have cordoned off the area.
The deceased are believed to be school children.
