On Friday afternoon Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to Greyling street in Pietermaritzburg for reports of electrocution.
When paramedics arrived they found that an electrical contractor who had been digging trenches was electrocuted by a mainline with an estimated 11000 volts.
Paramedics treated the critically injured worker, stabilizing the patient before transporting the patient to the hospital.
