Collapsed bridge on the R61 in the Eastern Cape re-opened

Transport Min. Fikile Mbalula is at Cofimvaba tomorrow, to open the bridge that collapsed on December 28th due to persistent and damaging rains late last year.

The road (R61 Tsomo junction, between Ngcobo and Cofimvaba) will therefore be temporarily closed tomorrow, Monday, 28 February 2022, mid-morning for a short while.

Motorists are urged to prepare themselves for a 30min delay, maximum. Or use alternative routes as follows:

Vehicles travelling from Komani (Queenstown) and Cofimvaba can take the R409 to Butterworth on the N2 to reach Mthatha. The R408 can be taken at Idutywa on the N2 to reach Ngcobo.
