Earlier this morning, Medi Response Search and Rescue division, together with Lenmed eThekwini paramedics, responded to a construction site on the North Coast, for reports of an accident.
On arrival of advanced life paramedics, it was reported that a trench had collapsed, entrapping two persons within. The injured persons were removed from the compromised site by their colleagues, prior to EMS arrival.
A worker sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to the hospital, with the assistance of Air Mercy Services. The second worker was transported by Medi Response ambulance to a nearby facility.
Thank you to Ashton International College Ballito for allowing Medi Response to utilise their sports field to facilitate the safe landing of the Helicopter and to Chapman Security as well as Air Mercy Services for the assistance.
