Participants of the Vukayibambe Routine Road Maintenance fixing a pothole in the Dannhauser Local Municipality as part of the official launch of the youth programme which was held today (21 June 2022).
The launch which takes place during youth month was officiated by the Chairperson of the Transport Portfolio Committee Sibonelo Mtshali who was accompanied by Mayors, Councillors and traditional leadership and Transport Head of Department Siboniso Mbhele.
This programme is aimed at training and skilling young people in doing minor repairs and road maintenance; this includes pothole patching, road marking, grass cutting and other related activities. Priority will be given to flood-damaged infrastructure and roads (blacktop and gravel) that have reached their lifespan.
The programme is currently being rolled out in all districts.
