Sand being swept onto the N2 near Klein Brak River has since heavy rainfall in December 2022, caused regular lane closures on the N2, direction of Mossel Bay.
There have been many discussions on the matter, between the Mossel Bay Municipality, the provincial government, SANRAL and the private owner of the adjacent property up to the N2/R102.
As a result of these discussions, all parties are aware of the situation and making work of its management to ensure public safety.
Planning is underway to provide a permanent solution to the problem. As soon as the necessary approvals are in place, implementation will commence.
SANRAL, who is responsible for the section on the N2, further undertook to put temporary measures in place and manage the situation until the implementation of the permanent solution takes effect.
Photographs were taken earlier this month following persistent rainfall. Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services assisted in cleaning the N2 after the sand was removed by the relevant authority.
