Today, Acting Premier of the Free State, Jabu Mbalula, vowed to maintain transparency in the appointment of contractors and prevent the rise of the so-called “construction mafia” in the province.
Speaking at a South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) stakeholder engagement in Trompsburg, Kopanong Local Municipality, he emphasized that criminal elements disrupting the construction industry, as seen in other provinces, would not be tolerated in the Free State.
Mbalula highlighted the importance of road construction for economic growth and reiterated that all contractor appointments and employment for road projects would follow a transparent and fair process.
