As the holiday season comes to an end, a gradual decline in the number of visitors is observed. Though this may be accompanied by a decline in the high traffic volumes typical of the festive season, traffic congestions are not a thing of the past yet but will be impacted by a different source as roadworks resume on 8 January.
The Western Cape Government’s Department of Infrastructure (DOI) remains hard at work upgrading a portion of Louis Fourie Road in Mossel Bay. The project started in July 2022 and as per a media statement from the Western Cape Government on 23 September 2024, despite some difficulties, the project is still set to be completed in 2026.
Tolerance, understanding and co-operation from commuters have been observed since the beginning of the project, as well as a level of excitement in anticipation of a formidable, upgraded road infrastructure fit to accommodate the traffic volumes of one of the fastest growing towns in the country.
Progress updates will continue until the project is completed.
