During the early hours this morning, just after midnight, Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the Northdale area after reports that a staff member from the Msunduzi Municipality’s Electricity Department was injured after the street light he was working on collapsed.
It is believed the man was harnessed to the pole while working on the light fixture. When the pole collapsed, it pulled him to the ground with it.
Mi7 medics, with the help of Mi7 Reaction Officers and members of the police, quickly worked to stabilise the patient – who was left with extensive injuries. Advanced Life Support interventions were administered before he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
