In light of the weather alert received from the South African Weather Services, a preparatory channel is being dug as a response to potential flood risk at the Great Brak Estuary.
This action follows meetings held by the breaching committee last week. The members included the Mossel Bay Municipality, Garden Route District Municipality, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment, and Department of Water and Sanitation, and they were chaired by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning.
Action has been taken per the approved Maintenance Management Plan.
