Just after 10 am this morning, ALS Paramedics responded to a serious Crash on Otto Volek Road near Blair Road in Pinetown.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the badly damaged vehicles in the roadway. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that three patients from both vehicles had sustained moderate injuries. The bakkie driver was found entrapped in the wreckage, and the Ethekweni Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut the man free. Once freed, the patient was carefully extricated from the wreckage.
Once stabilized on the scene, all three patients were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care they required.
At this stage, the events leading up to the crash are unknown; however, SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating further.
