In an effort to create jobs and improve livelihoods, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka, will this week launch two projects valued at more than R135 million in the uMkhanyakude District.
The two projects, Wela River Bridge in KwaHlabisa and the main road D1841 in eNdumo in Jozini, will also improve economic growth and assist in poverty alleviation.
Tomorrow, Thursday (22 September 2022), MEC Hlomuka with uMkhanyakude District Mayor, Sphile Mdaka, Inkosi uMdletshe and Inkosi Hlabisa, will launch the construction of the Wela River bridge. This bridge is essential in connecting areas falling under the two traditional authorities. The value of this bridge is R33 million.
On Friday (23 September 2022), MEC Hlomuka will preside over the contractor handing over for the main road D1841 in eNdumo. This road is vital for tourism development and agricultural production. This phase of 11km will be constructed at a value of R102 million.
