The Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn (Alderman Johan Allers), Acting Municipal Manager (Mkhululi Yekani), Management of Strategic Services and the developer (Dorpstraat), Fanie van der Westhuyzen, gathered at the site of the new mall, Klein Karoo Markt, located at the corner of Langenhoven and Rademeyer.
The project was well underway, with construction workers busy with their tasks as the team arrived for an on-site meeting.
The mall is set to open by the end of April 2025. As they walked through the construction area, the team discussed the ongoing improvements to Rademeyer Street. It was essential to ensure that access to the mall was seamless.
Logistics were also a topic of conversation. The team needed to finalize details about parking and public transport access to make visiting the mall easy for everyone.
The Klein Karoo Markt will offer a diverse selection of stores, including popular retailers such as Food Lovers Market, Mr Price, Cape Union Mart, Woolworths, Woolworths Food, and Dischem, providing a wide range of shopping options for visitors.
They also discussed the layout, noting the importance of a welcoming entrance for Checkers, complete with a “Checkers Little Me” section for children. There will be seating areas for people to relax and enjoy themselves, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere.
